The Boys Are Bright (And Ready To Fight!)

With mating season upon us, the fellas have been sporting their finest feathers, whether it’s radiant red…

…or gleaming gold…

…or a little bit of both with a background of black.

Not only are they dressed to impress, but they are a wee bit more aggressive than usual.  It is not uncommon to see one perched in his fighter pilot pose, ready to ward off unwanted intruders.

Of course, there are a few who are clearly lovers and not fighters.  Take this industrious Nuthatch for example – he made trip after trip to the peanut feeder…

…and then flew to a secluded, romantic (and hard to photograph!) branch to bring the object of his affections a love offering of food.

Never a dull moment in the backyard these days!

  1. Mr. Robin is looking especially dapper!! ❤️ He looks different than the variety we get here in the Pacific NW. 😃

  2. Beautiful pics of your birds Kathie!
They all look well nourished by your self- serve restaurant. It is one way of ensuring you get great shots.
