Bonnie – Do you have a site? I would love to see some of your pictures. And I agree – God has blessed us with so much beauty in His creation!
have signed up,but having trouble setting it up
Kathy, I ‘thought’ I had already clicked follow on your site, ages ago. But apparently I was mistaken. I am just now seeing all your wonderful bird photos! SO jealous… You’ve captured some beauties! And you’re so creative in how you attract them to your yard! lol Peanut butter on the sides of trees and piping peanuts into small grooves from your back deck! π Not only do you photograph well, but you’re also a great writer.
We use very similar cameras – I have a Canon SX40 that I bought a couple years ago. And I absolutely LOVE it.
Look forward to seeing more of your work, now that you’re in my reader.
Hope you have a lovely day in Georgia. Looks like it’ll be a little to wet for me to be out snapping pictures here in SC.
Marcia – I read your bio earlier and thought to myself, “I think I would really like her.” Thanks for checking out this site…I think you would understand when I say that being outside with the camera, surrounded by such beauty, is a sweet gift God uses to nourish my soul.
I SO understand completely! π
And all God’s children said Amen
Yes Kathy being outside with all of His creations does smooth the our sole

I am indeed blessed to have these birds right in my own backyard. The amazing thing is that it is right in a subdivision near Atlanta. Who would have thought it!

Hey!
It is so true that we are blessed by God with such great creation!!
Just read that you lived in Georgia and, even though you seem like a VERY experienced birder, I thought that I could recommend a field guide to you since I live in Georgia as well.
Birds of Georgia, by Parrish, Beaton, and Kennedy.
It is an excellent field guide and I would give it 5 stars.
By the way, what camera do you use? I’m considering getting a good quality camera so I can get really good shots of birds for my blog.
Keep up the great work!!
Thanks for stopping by. I will definitely check out the bird book…thanks for the recommendation.
Most of my bird pictures are done with a Canon SX50 HS. It has great zoom and is easy to take wherever I go. You would like it when you are out in the woods!
Awesome! Thanks so much for answering my question. Feel free to check out my blog at: http://www.trackmuch.wordpress.com
Oh, I’m impressed. Delighted to find your blog and am following you now.
So glad to have you along for the ride! π
Kathy Im a bird nerd too, so happy to have found your beautiful site and photography.
Kath
I hopped over and checked out your blog as well. You are quite gifted!
Hi Kathy,
I’d love to chat about your passion for backyard birding and any interest you might have in partnering to create some content. Drop me an email -> marketing@birdfeedersetc.com.
Love your blog – thanks!
Love, love, love your photos. I am an oil painter and am wondering if you would grant me permission to use some of your photos as reference to paint from. I love painting birds. I would be happy to send you a commission on any that I sell. They are small and I don’t charge a lot so it wouldn’t be much. You can see my art here on WordPress or on Daily Paintworks. Search Andrea Jeris.
Thanks for the kind words. And feel free to paint any and as many as you’d like. No commission (hey, I was copying the original Artist!) but I’d love it if you showed me your painting(s) if you do use a photo. π
Ms. Kathy,
Your page is an oasis for the eyes!!

And creation definitely displays His glory. π
As a fellow bird nerd, Georgian, photographer and follower of our Creator, very glad to come across your blog! William — “What a wildly wonderful world, God! You made it all, with Wisdom at Your side, made earth overflow with your wonderful creations.” Psalms 104 The Message
Creation indeed shouts of God’s glory. Nice to meet your acquaintance.
Was looking through your photos- good lighting, composition of your feathered and butterfly friends, not to mention your two beautiful Labs.
Thanks for stopping by and for the kind words. π

Hi there!
I am so very impressed by the quality and subjects of your photographs. I am wondering if I could please have permission to use some of your photos for a Wildlife Garden Class I am teaching?

I have been enjoying your videos on birds and I have set up a feeder outside my window. I’m keeping a log of the birds I see and having a blast.
I have never gotten a straight answer for this question, even from experienced birders. Maybe there is none, but I’ll give you a try at it. My question is: Do Mockingbirds have their own call/song?
P.S. The 00 in my email are zeros not letters π
Hi Greg. Iβm more of an enthusiast than an expert, but my experience has been that mockingbirds as a group do not share a common distinct song, but are mimics, and create their individual songs from the other birds ( and even other noises) they hear around them. They string them together and repeat them, continually adding to their storehouse of songs.
Glad you are enjoying your birds!
Thanks for the comments and ideas. I don’t check my emails often so I’m just now seeing you answered my email. You gave me more info/ideas then I ever had before. Thanks again π
