There has been a summertime lull in the backyard bird activity, but the butterflies are still out in abundance!
The other day I saw this beautiful male Tiger Swallowtail enjoying the butterfly bush blossoms.

You can tell it’s a male because he lacks the pronounced smear of bright blue that the female has at the base of the wings.

A Hummingbird Moth decided to invite himself to join in the nectar nipping…

…which led the Swallowtail to fly over to a different bush to eat in peace.


The bird activity should pick back up when the cooler weather rolls around, but for now, I’ll just keep enjoying all the butterfly beauty!
