Gibbs Gardens was another outing we took during our staycation this past week. It is a beautiful place nestled in the North Georgia mountains where you can stroll along and enjoy one beautiful garden after another.
This time of year, there were several fields brimming with poppies…

…and with larkspur, which was a favorite of the swallowtails! I love how the flowers blur in the background to create such a pretty blend of colors.

Water lilies were also bursting forth in bloom, decorating several of the ponds with their loveliness.

I really like the picture of the lilies below because of the way the reflection of some red Japanese maples was giving the water a rosy tint.

But I think the most fun part of the day was getting some frog photos. There were several lounging about, but this fellow was the one I liked best.

He let me get closer…

…and closer…

…and closer!

He was so handsome and so charming I thought to myself, “What the heck, I’ll go ahead and kiss him!” So I bent down and smacked a smooch right on the top of his forehead…and look what happened!
Okay…so that’s not exactly how the story played out, but hey, sometimes you have to take creative liberties!
I’m pretty sure I’m gonna make a return visit here soon because the butterflies are just starting to show up, and when the fields of zinnias come into bloom there should be lots of beauties just begging to have their pictures taken.

Fine photos, prince and all π
Thank you! And I’m a little partial to the prince!
