Thirty-Bird Challenge: Dressed to Impress

I have to say, the male Cardinals in my backyard (bird #18 in this ongoing Challenge!) have been dressed to impress as of late!

They have been sporting their finest feathers…

…even poofing them up at times…

…as they gather food offerings to win the fair maidens.

Cardinals are common birds where I live, but their beauty is anything but common.

I sometimes stop and imagine that I am seeing them for the first time, and when I do, it never fails to take my breath away!

  1. My all time favorite birds ever since Daddy first pointed them out & taught 2 or 3 year old me their names, Kentucky Cardinals. Gorgeousty! said I. And they still are.
