I’m pretty sure I’ve said this before (And I’m pretty sure I’ll say it again!), but I am not a huge fan of Canada Geese. Besides being prolific poopers that leave their not-so-little geese gifts all over the place, they are obnoxiously loud and can be downright rude to the unsuspecting passerby innocently strolling along.
Lucky for them, their incredible beauty makes it possible to overlook their undesirable behavior! And besides, they really can be fun to take pictures of!
This morning I was walking a loop at a nearby lake when a flock of said creatures announced their arrival and then swooped down toward the water.

They veered to the left (though I guess it was to the right from their perspective)…

…and then made a splash landing, which is always kind of thrilling to watch.

Then, they regrouped, and did an about face…

…and floated along in their gaggley gang, wearing their “don’t mess with the goose” expressions!

I hate to admit it, but their presence really did make the morning walk more enjoyable!
So many all at once. We had a pair of Canada Geese nesting on a lake on Southampton Common and then this year they came back with their offspring. Only six though.
This flock was LOUD! I would imagine six wouldn’t be too bad.
Enjoyed your photos and narration of them !
Thanks!
Even though you’re not a big Canada Goose fan, you took some amazing photos of them! I especially loved the “splash landing” photos. You’re such a talented photographer.
Thank you! (The lake loop is more fun when you come along!)
Yeah, these guys can bring down airplanes, too! Great series, Kathy. They are a striking bird, regardless of their attitude. 😀
Stunning photos Kathy !patrick
Thanks. 😊
