The Brown Thrasher is the state bird of Georgia, and if you judge him by a glance you might think him to be rather aggressive.
For sure, that golden-eyed glare…
…and that grim-reaper beak do give him a rather sinister like appearance…
…but honestly, I have found them to be rather mild mannered. This beauty dropped by for a bite of Bark Butter, and then hopped down to grab a peanut before flying back to the front yard, where they usually hang out.
I love earth tones, so I find his copper coloring to be absolutely beautiful.
He definitely has an open invitation at my feeders!
Quite an attractive bird Kathy, You captured some beautiful images of its facial expression. I was interested to discover why they were called Thrashers, as we do not have such birds, though as mimics and leaf up-turners they would do well in our rainforests.
Most folks think the name comes from the way it thrashes through the leaves so vigorously!
Beautiful little bird.
A very handsome bird!
