I took my new camera combo out for a bit of a field test the other morning. I figured the loop around a nearby lake would be a great place to practice and learn more about the different controls and settings.
Right away, I spotted an Eastern Kingbird that was perched quite prettily, but was obstructed by some grass and vines. I snapped a shot, and then made it my quest to come away with a better picture of one of these beauties.

A bit farther down the path there was a lovely male Bluebird in the top branches of a pine tree.

And there were plenty of geese around…some floating by…

…some flying by…

…and some seemingly confused as to which path to take!

Eventually, I saw another Kingbird land on a branch so I crept closer to get a couple of pictures.

But I guess another Kingbird decided this was his bug hunting territory, and a bit of a squabble ensued.

The victor stayed at the branch, looking pretty pleased with himself, and the other bird took off to a less hostile environment.

My favorite shot of the day was when one landed on a bench by the edge of the lake and struck up a lovely pose, with the lake and shore blurred in the background.

I am having so much fun figuring out how to use this camera, and I’m thinking I’ll need several more trips to the lake to help with the learning!
Lovely images Kathy your new purchase is doing you proud 😊
I am really pleased with it so far!
Excellent experiment! i have a couple new lens that I need to get out with. This morning it was 28 degrees and I decided to wait for a warmer day!
I can’t wait to see how they do. Enjoy!
Terrific captures!
Thanks!
Excellent images, and so glad you are enjoying your new equipment!
Thank you!
I can think of no better way to test out your new equipment, Kathy, but of course your talent as a photographer is, in my opinion, even more important in getting terrific images like these!
Well thank you!
Looking good, such nice pretty shots of all sorts of fun bird stories!
