One of the things I am really enjoying about the Canon R7 is the eye-recognition feature in the auto-focus system. I am finding that it usually does a really great job.
But…every once in awhile a focus fooler comes along. Like this Buckeye Butterfly, whose wings look like they’re covered in eyes! That’s an unfair challenge!

I’m pretty sure I heard the camera breathe a sigh of relief when this Silver-spotted Skipper landed nearby…

… with its big button eye just begging to be found!

Proof just how realistic that eye-spot on the butterfly’s wing is! If it can fool a Canon it can fool a predator, which is exactly what the butterfly is hoping.
