I’m used to seeing the Ruby-throated Hummingbirds hanging about the zinnias and the lantana and the salvia, but this little one showed up at the batch of sunflowers we had blossoming.


It started at one flower, and the flitted off to another.



I think the picture below is probably my favorite from the few that I was able to snap.

They still opt to feast on the zinnias most of the time, but I guess this one just wanted to sample the flavor of another flower.
Or… maybe looking for tiny bugs? e.g., aphids?

I love this hummingbird gallery! I’ve been watching hummers going from zinnia to zinnia in my garden but I’ve never had my camera handy when I see them.
