Wayfaring Warblers: Part I

First of all, isn’t “wayfaring” a fun word? And somehow, pairing it with the word “warbler” – well, it just has a pleasing ring to it!

Anyhow, now that fall migration has officially begun, I’ve had some wayfaring warblers beginning to visit the backyard – like this Black-throated Green Warbler. Isn’t he gorgeous?

At first glance, as he was darting in and out of the leaves, I thought perhaps it was a Pine Warbler – shown in the two pictures below. You can see that they do have some similarities, but they are easy to tell apart when you can freeze them in a photo!

Black-throated Green Warblers are not one of my regular backyard birds, so I’m thankful this one stopped in to refuel enroute to his winter residence.

Fall migration might just be my favorite time of year!

  1. Nice shotes – I particularly like the lead image. Indeed – autumn is definitely my favourite season. Looking forward to living a home with a backyard again soon. 🙂
