Invitation Accepted

If you follow this blog, you might remember that a couple of weeks ago I made my first trip to Cochran Shoals where I encountered a motley crew of cormorants AND a Red-headed Woodpecker.  While there, I pleaded with this handsome fellow (I’m obviously talking about the woodpecker here!) to come home with me and hang out in my backyard.  At the time he declined my offer, but I’m thinking he was just playing hard to get because guess who showed up today?

Isn’t he absolutley gorgeous?
He was a bit shy and didn’t venture too close, but I’m hoping that he’ll decide to stick around for awhile.

  1. I bet he heard about all of the peanuts you had at you house. He wanted to get some before Mr. Bluejay ate them all.

  2. He IS absolutely gorgeous, glad he stopped by for a visit after all! 🙂
