My backyard is swarming with young Woodpeckers…like this young male Downy who has taking a liking to the peanut feeder.

When he gets older, his red patch with brighten up and move from the top of his head to the back of his neck, like his daddy below.

And, following in the footsteps of his father, this young fellow has quite an appetite for Bark Butter.

This young Red-bellied Woodpecker also has acquired a taste for this popular suet type spread…and to say that squabbles have broken out would be an understatement!

Hmmm…like father like son I guess.

They both are also frequent visitors to the peanut feeder.

I’m hoping that the Red-headed Woodpeckers will bring their little ones soon!
