This morning, hubby filled the cavity in the dogwood with a fistful of peanuts, much to the delight of this nut-loving Nuthatch, who was delighted with the discovery.
This fellow, who is of the Red-breasted variety, made trip after trip, thoroughly enjoying this Saturday morning surprise!
Great capture! π
Thanks!
Great story and he didn’t share that little find with the other birds I’ll bet!
Not sure if he shared, but the rest of the clan soon followed!
Those birds, and even my squirrels that I cater to, latch onto a good thing and will protect it with all their might. I enjoy reading about the personalities of the various backyard birds that frequent your feeders and bark butter lathered trees.
Funny, I was thinking of using the word “lathered” in an upcoming post…I guess that seals the deal!
Those birds are “eagle eyes” when it comes to the bark butter!
Great picture of the cute nuthatch!π
Thanks!
What a clever idea! The nuthatch is so small!
Super shot! I heard this week that some red-breasted nuthatches have been seen in our neighborhood. I’m keeping my eyes open.
I hope you see one and it pauses to pose for you!
