Butterflies are my favorite “subjects” to take pictures of in the summer season. Partially because the backyard birds are looking far from their finest, and partially because my time with these lovelies is limited, so I want to enjoy their presence while I can.
This week, I had the chance to snap shots of a pretty Pipevine Swallowtail, who was visiting some rogue Zinnias that popped up where we didn’t plant any…

…this crazy-cool Gulf Fritillary, who was also enjoying said Zinnias…

…and a Spicebush Swallowtail, who was flitting about amidst the Lantana blossoms.

Note to the Spicebush – he’d better enjoy the Lantana while he can because my dogs also seem to find the blossoms delightful!
I still haven’t had a Tiger Swallowtail show up long enough to get any pictures, but perhaps they’re just waiting for August to make their appearance. Here’s hoping they stop by soon!
Stunning! 😍
Even more beautiful in person!

Those are so beautiful 😍
I’m so glad they’re paying a visit!
Love them all!
Me too!
Kathie, I’m so glad I scrolled through Reader and saw these beautiful photos! My neighbors was just telling me that butterflies are attracted to her zinnias; I’m planting some!
You must! The Hummingbirds like them too!
