Hubby and I have planted several flowers and bushes with the hopes of attracting more butterflies to the backyard, and one of the clear favorites is the Bee Balm. Now that it is blossoming, a couple of Spice Bush Swallowtails have been hovering about nipping its nectar on a regular basis.

Oh, they have sipped at the Coneflowers…

…and snacked at the Zinnias…

…and sampled from whatever this lovely little purple flower is…

…but then they always seem to make a bee-line back to the Balm.

I guess it won’t surprise you to know that we added three more of these plants (aka – butterfly bait!) to the backyard this morning! Bee Balm for the win!
Beautiful butterfly 🦋
I agree!
Pretty. You will soon have lots of bee balm. I like it, bit it spreads prolifically.
Well…here’s hoping that it spreads and lures lots of lovely butterflies this way!
Beautiful butterflies that we do not see in Europe.
I love the swallowtails that we get here. What is your most common type?
The most common type of butterfly here in Finland is the Aglais urticae. Very colourful.
Oooh…I looked it up! What a beauty!
Needless to say that you can find it in my blog too. Please feel free to come to visit!
I hopped over and am now following. 🙂
Thanks. 😊🌷🦆🦋
Beautiful!!
