Well, I figured I’d end the “Bathing Bonanza” series with a mish mash of other birds that have stopped in for a backyard bath.
This cute little Dark-eyed Junco just arrived for the winter months and had a nice splash.

This Chipping Sparrow also popped in. In fact, he and his friends have been showing up for baths on a regular basis.

Robins have been enjoying the dish that we have at the top of the fountain…

…and a Bay-breasted Warbler was singing and bathing at the same time.

This little wild-winged bird also enjoyed an exuberant bath. I’m really not sure what kind it is. My app says it’s a Warbling Vireo, but I didn’t think they came round these parts! Whatever the id, it was fun to watch!

Oh, and birds weren’t the only ones who love the water – the fountain is a favorite for frogs too!

Okay…full transparency…when I saw this frog posing so prettily, I grabbed my camera thinking surely he’d be gone before I managed to get a shot. But he just sat there…in fact…he sat there so long he made me suspicious. Sure enough, when I touched him, instead of darting under the water he just toppled over! Turns out I was taking pictures of a lovely dead fellow. I guess you could say he croaked!
Well, that’s it for the “Bathing Bonanza” series – though I’m sure there will be more wet feathers to share in the future.
Poor frog! 😦
Lovely shots, Kathy! I lean to a fall-drab Tennessee Warbler for your mystery bird. 🙂
It’s a big pleasure!
For me, too, water has always been a passion!
In my childhood, my little friends and I walked around all the city looking for water to cool off and have fun.
Such happy feathered friends in their special bath! And that frog…..love it!
(…not that I love that he was expired, poor thing, just…..the story. Quite amazing! It looks so lifelike.)
He really was a beauty!
Your fountain certainly is providing a bonanza of beautiful visitors. And who can blame the frog for choosing such a beautiful spot to shuffle off this mortal coil?
“to shuffle off his mortal coil” – love it!
