He’s back!
“My” Yellow-bellied Sapsucker whom I affectionately call Winston (though I can’t for the life of me recall why I dubbed him thus!) is back to spend the winter months.
He is quite a fan of Bark Butter, so as long as he keeps showing up to eat it, I’ll keep putting out a hearty supply for his dining pleasure.

May I ask how you know it’s the same bird you’ve seen before? I often wish I could tell individuals apart.
More like an educated guess than a certainty, since these guys are known to return to the same location and often use the previous year’s cavity. He seemed to pick up right where he left off!
The nest use seems like a definite sign!
