Eastern Phoebes are year round residents here in North Georgia, but I think their coffee-with-cream coloring pairs perfectly with the fall season.

These birds are easy to identify, not just by their appearance but by their sounds and mannerisms too. When they sing it sounds like they are saying their name over and over – Phoebe, Phoebe, and when they are perched on a branch they are constantly bobbing their tails.

These beauties are always welcome in my backyard!
Awww, we have them here in Southern Michigan too, but only in the summers. I see them sometimes sitting on the dog pen, waiting for some innocent insect to happen by. I’ve also seen them a few times out on the trail in the woods, mostly in open areas. They are adorable. If I ever get to Alabama this winter I’ll look for them, they might be in our yard, you never know. I’ve noticed when we’re away from the lake for extended periods all sorts of birds move in, so when we come back for the first day or so there are lots of interesting happenings going on in the yard.
Well then, I hope you make it to Alabama and find them waiting for you!
Their name fits them so beautifully!
