In my last post, I shared some shots of a young male Summer Tanager that has been hanging about. Here’s a reminder of what he looks like.

Well, an adult version of this beautiful bird has been making an appearance as well!

I first saw him skirting in and out among the Oak leaves, looking for a snack…which he successfully found!

Is he not stunning?!

I’ll be honest, whenever one of these birds shows up, part of me wants to constantly click the shutter button with the hopes that I’ll come away with some photos to share with ya’ll, but part of me wants to put the camera down and just soak in its beauty. Usually I end up doing a bit of both!
Later on in the day, he flew over to the fountain area but opted for a shower instead of a bath. Hubby was watering some recently spread grass seed, and this guy positioned himself perfectly to enjoy the spray from the sprinkler.

What a gorgeous guy!

We’ve now had the juvenile and the adult male Summer Tanagers pay a September visit, perhaps the female will bless us with an appearance as well! Here’s hoping!
What fantastic images! And what a great colour that little bird is! Thanks you for sharing them. Kind regards…Jay👍.
I love his coloring too!
That is just so cool. I’ve never seen a summer ranger. I’ve seen a scarlet tanger 2x in my life. Both were fleeting glances.
I’d love to get a good shot at a male Scarlet Tanager! They are so so stunning!
Handsome guy! The males migrate first, so perhaps the females will be along soon. 🙂
I’ll keep my eyes out for her!
Wow, so striking!!
