There are some folks who, no matter what, always seem to show up late. You know, the kind that you purposefully tell that the meeting is at 9:30 when it really starts at 10:00. Then there are those on the other end of the pendulum that are perpetually ahead of time; those early arrivers that are fully aware that the meeting is at 10:00 but will be sitting in the parking lot at 9:30. I fall into the early arriver category, and I’m pretty sure this Eastern Tiger Swallowtail does too.

Butterfly season doesn’t hit full force til mid to late summer around here, but this lovely lady showed up at the start of spring, investigating a trio of blossoms.

I’m hoping to have A LOT of zinnias blooming in a couple of months, so there should be many more butterfly photos in the future, but it just seems fitting to let the first arriver get the first picture.
Wow, very early! Gorgeous. π
I know! It’s rare that I get butterflies before spring babies!
What a beautiful image of one of God’s amazing creations! Thank you for sharing! β€οΈ
My pleasure!
Beautiful!!
Thank you. π
There have been a few lovely front porch days here, just as our bordering cherry laurel bushes are in full fragrant bloom, & we’ve seen one small white cabbage butterfly fluttering busily about in them. Last night it dipped below freezing & it’s too chilly for me to sit out there today, but I will go out & look for the little cabbage butterfly & I hope I will see it again. I hope it hasn’t come too early this April, which T.S. Eliot accused of being “the cruellist month.”
I think Mr. Eliot has a point!
