A trio of juvenile Blue Jays paid a visit to the backyard the other day, and can I just say they were a curious crew!
The parent that was supervising them stayed a bit at a distance, giving them a taste of independence and letting them explore on their own, and when one discovered the waterfall fountain, they all had to take a turn getting wet!
The first in the water was the most adventurous, clearly the type that dives right in rather than testing it with a toe!

He was quite a zealous splasher, and in no hurry to leave! Doesn’t he look like he’s having a big ole time??!!

When he finally did decide to exit, a sibling that was waiting in the wings cautiously got in…

…opting for a sip and a quiet soak instead of a thorough feather drenching.

Then a third youngster also ventured in and took a turn flapping and splashing.

And when the bathing was done, they perched and struck pretty poses while their feathers dried.

The fountain was a treat for these toddlers, and these toddlers were a treat for me!
