Just as the sky was losing its light the other evening, I heard a cacophony of raucous squawking and looked out to see two baby Blue Jays demanding to be fed. And when I say demanding, that is an understatement. These little ones were horribly hangry and were letting the whole neighborhood know!

Mama (or maybe Daddy) filled the beak of one with peanuts and then swooped down to where I had some seed spread out to reload. But the little one who hadn’t gotten food yet was not going to be left behind. It followed and continued to raise a ruckus.

You can see that this direct deposit style of food delivery is not for the faint of heart!

These youngsters are not the same ones that came to investigate the fountain the other day. They were younger and still in that constant crying and wing-flapping stage.
After a few more helpings, they all flew off, but returned the next morning as vocal as ever…

…quickly resuming their bossy behavior!

I always feel a bit bad for the poor parents, who run themselves ragged getting food…

…and sometimes have to battle to get their own beak back after delivering it!

Though undeniably loud and obnoxious, these little disturbers of the peace are certainly fun to watch!
Such beautiful captures Kathy. One of my favourite birds from your part of the world
One of my favourites too!
Great series, Kathy. You got some great captures!
Thank you! They are so much fun to watch.
Blue Jays are squawkers, for sure. But they are such gloriously beautiful birds.
Yes and yes!
Another great series. The sqawks are jumping off the screen!
Thanks for stopping in! These juvies were so loud!
