In years past, Brown Thrashers have been common visitors to the backyard buffet, but this year their appearances have been few and far between. So, it was a pleasant surprise when this fellow swooped in for a quick bite of breakfast.
He landed first on the horizontal Bark Butter branch…
…and then opted to hop up and eat at the upper level.
I love, love, love his rich warm color tones and his gleaming golden eye.
I am hoping that this visit was a preview of coming attractions!

Cute little guy!
Such handsome birds & very entertaining watching them thrashing about in the leaf litter. Wonderful photos of this dapper fellow.
I am hoping his appearance means he will be back for more!
He does look every bit the star attraction! Or is it the talented photographer that makes him look so good?
It’s hard to go wrong with his coloring and markings!
These are beautiful photos. I’m sure you know that the brown thrasher is the state bird of Georgia.
Thank you! We used to have a hockey team bearing their name. 🙂
Terrific photographs of one of the most handsome birds!
