In years past, Brown Thrashers have been common visitors to the backyard buffet, but this year their appearances have been few and far between. So, it was a pleasant surprise when this fellow swooped in for a quick bite of breakfast.
He landed first on the horizontal Bark Butter branch…
…and then opted to hop up and eat at the upper level.
I love, love, love his rich warm color tones and his gleaming golden eye.
I am hoping that this visit was a preview of coming attractions!
