Summer is the season for Swallowtails in my front yard, with Tiger Swallowtails being the most common variety of visitor.
I frequently see male Tiger Swallowtails flitting about…
…and female Tiger Swallowtails…
…and female Tiger Swallowtails of the dark morph variety, which are so very beautiful.
Well, today I saw what I am calling a “mixed morph” – a female that was mostly dark, but that also kept a bit of the yellow markings.
I think she is rather lovely!

No sooner had I written this post than I looked outside and saw a brand new batch of swallowtails eagerly nipping nectar. I grabbed the camera and spent another hour outside!
