From Dorothy to Denver

I LOVED the trip we took to Titusville last month, but I must agree with Dorothy – “there’s no place like home!” And while it’s wonderful to get away and see birds and beauty that are not common in my neck of the woods, my soul breathes a happy sigh when I get back home and am surrounded by the familiar beauty of my backyard birds.

Here’s a few members of the welcoming committee that were ready to greet me upon my return.

Eastern Bluebird
Dark-eyed Junco
Brown-headed Nuthatch
Red-bellied Woodpecker
American Goldfinch

And here are a few more.

Downy Woodpecker
House Finch
Tufted Titmouse
Carolina Chickadee
Pine Warbler

Yep, get-aways are great every now and then, but I agreed with Dorothy, and I sing along with Denver – “Hey, it’s great to be back home again!”

  1. And for those of us whose gallavantin’ days are pretty much behind us, the internet is a magic carpet to see Nature’s Glories through your brilliant eyes & lens. Thanks a million, Kathy!

  2. When the girls were little, I used to show them toy store ads and let them circle what they wanted. I want to do that with this post. If I circle the brown-headed nuthatch and write “want dat” next to it, do you think I’ll get it?
