When I talk about flash photography with birds, it has NOTHING to do with camera equipment, and everything to do with snapping a picture fast because these subjects take off in a flash!
Just when you think you have one perfectly framed…
…they spread their wings and off they go!
It happens over…
…and over…
…and over again!
Ah well, even when they fly off in a flash, it’s still fun to get out and take their pictures!

I’ve been using shutter speeds of 1/2000 or faster to capture the wing movement…what are you using? I know it depends on the light too…and it looks like you had sun! I haven’t seen the sun in forever!
That’s the shutter speed I aim for if I can get enough light. Those birds just don’t sit still!
