Who Made The Calendar Cut?

Several years ago I unknowingly began a holiday tradition. You see, I had the bright idea of making my Mom and Dad a backyard bird calendar for a Christmas gift – and they have requested a repeat every year since! Honestly though, it’s a project that is a lot of fun for me to put together.

I do have one self-imposed rule when selecting which photos to use, and that’s that the pictures chosen have to be from the past twelve months. I also try to pick a few birds that haven’t made a previous calendar appearance, or at least not a recent one.

Anyway, I figured that a fitting close to 2024 would be to share the birds featured on the 2025 “Backyard Birds” calendar.

January – Yellow-bellied Sapsucker

February – Ruby-crowned Kinglet

March – Yellow-rumped Warbler

April – Yellow-billed Cuckoo

May – Eastern Bluebirds

June – Ruby-throated Hummingbird

July – American Goldfinch

August – Black-and-white Warbler

September – Chestnut-sided Warbler

October – Hermit Thrush

November – Rose-breasted Grosbeak

December – Northern Cardinal

Thanks for stopping by and for helping to make posting on this site such a joy!

And may your new year be filled with all the best blessings…and lots of beautiful birds, of course!

  1. They’re all so clear and crisp, instantaneously trumpeting their unique personalities, with me almost expecting them to fly out from my screen, (big smile)! It makes the receiver excited to turn up the new leaf on a new month. And….tomorrow they’ll see January’s! Happy 2025–thank you for all you gave us in 2024.

  2. Each month a winner, Kathy, but June & July, set off by your gorgeous zinnias are the jewels in the year’s crown! Happy New Year & I’m looking forward to your next year’s glorious bird portraits. Thank you so much for all of them. Judith

    1. I have to admit, that little Goldfinch on the zinnias is probably my favorite…but I do love the Kinglet and the Sapsucker as well.
      Happy New Year to you!
