I hereby nominate the Hermit Thrush as the mascot of the post summer season.


When this beautiful bird shows up in the backyard, sporting its crunchy-leaved color tones, I know that autumn has officially made its arrival.

These thrushes aren’t bold or bright, but are lovely in a more subtle kind of way.

Here’s hoping he blesses me with many more appearances.
