Every now and then I like to “redecorate” the feeding station for our backyard birds, changing out a few branches for perches and adding some new places for them to feed.
The latest addition is a pair of platforms consisting of two large chunks of bark that hubby screwed onto some branches that I scavenged from my best friend’s mountain property.
I loaded one of them up with mealworms, which has quickly become a favorite of the Phoebes…

…and of the Pine Warblers as well!

And I packed the other platform full of peanuts, which the White-breasted Nuthatches love to grab and go.

Now, neither of these new dining locations may ever merit a Michelin rating, but I’m pretty sure they’ll receive the highest of Avian Awards!
I love this natural outdoorsy DIY design. I wonder if the wood feels better to the birds and improves their mental health as well as their physical health with supplemental food. Great idea! π
That might be!
