The “Most Faithful” Award

I have a lot of birds that are regulars in my backyard, but the award for “the most faithful feathered friend” has to go to the Northern Mockingbird.  He shows up rain or shine, whatever the season, and sits atop our huge Holly, singing his songs and diligently defending his territory.  He is the first bird to greet me in the morning, and the last to serenade me as the sun sets.

This series of photos was taken in the early hours, when he left his perch to enjoy a bit of fresh water.
