Sunday Evening Post: The Circus Edition

When I was a kid, I loved the circus!
The trapeze artists were amazing, the jugglers were fascinating, and the clowns – well, clowns have always been creepy!  But the main reason I loved the circus was because I had a major crush on the tiger trainer.  I was pretty sure my last name would one day be Gebel-Williams!

It’s been a long time since I’ve seen the circus, but today one paid a visit to my own backyard.

This White-breasted Nuthatch, though wearing the robes of the ringmaster, played the part of an acrobat and provided a lovely afternoon of entertainment.

When his performance was finished, he flew over to the deck rail and took a bow (at least that’s how it looked to me) and then helped himself to a well-earned peanut.

Now, he’s no Gunther Gebel-Williams, but I do adore this fellow!

  1. Fabulous series of images. Your little artiste looks very similar to the nuthatches here in Britain, though the colours are different. They are known for their acrobatics as well and their ability to run down trees. 🙂

  2. What a beauty and an adorable story! Fantastic capture of such a big personality! And I agree…clowns are creepy! Teehee. Have a happy day! Koko:)
