When I was a kid, I loved the circus!
The trapeze artists were amazing, the jugglers were fascinating, and the clowns – well, clowns have always been creepy! But the main reason I loved the circus was because I had a major crush on the tiger trainer. I was pretty sure my last name would one day be Gebel-Williams!
It’s been a long time since I’ve seen the circus, but today one paid a visit to my own backyard.
This White-breasted Nuthatch, though wearing the robes of the ringmaster, played the part of an acrobat and provided a lovely afternoon of entertainment.
When his performance was finished, he flew over to the deck rail and took a bow (at least that’s how it looked to me) and then helped himself to a well-earned peanut.
Now, he’s no Gunther Gebel-Williams, but I do adore this fellow!
Aren’t they amazing? Great shots Kathy! 🙂
They make me smile! 🙂
A beautiful circus artist! And his performance is well documented, with the bow and all 🙂
I love these little guys!
He’s so handsome! I love the details on his face! What a treat!
They are so much fun to watch!
Gorgeous shots, thank you Kathy!
He was cracking me up with his antics!
I love watching these fellas hang & flit around, quite acrobatic indeed! Love your captures, Kathy!
Thanks. These guys are fun to have around. 🙂
we have these too, and the are upside down half the time! 🙂
They always seem so curious and chipper!
Wonderful performance, we will sign him up for our next party!
Indeed – I will send him right over!
🙂
Fabulous series of images. Your little artiste looks very similar to the nuthatches here in Britain, though the colours are different. They are known for their acrobatics as well and their ability to run down trees. 🙂
Yes – this fellow is upside down as much as he is right side up!
He does look very much the circus professional! 🙂
And he really was quite entertaining…or perhaps I’m just easily amused!
What a beauty and an adorable story! Fantastic capture of such a big personality! And I agree…clowns are creepy! Teehee. Have a happy day! Koko:)
These birds really are the best entertainers. 🙂
I can see that! It’s so awesome!
