The handsome Red-headed woodpecker that showed up in my backyard last week has been making return visits.
This afternoon (sorry ’bout the sun flare) he even braved making a brief appearance on the deck while I was standing out there with my camera.
He didn’t stick around long, but he did manage to give an open-beaked glare to a young Blue Jay that invaded his personal space.
I keep hoping to snap a picture that will truly capture how drop dead gorgeous he is, but until then, you’ll just have to take my word for it. He is one breathtaking bird!
