UFW’s

I confess that I have never seen a UFO before, but I have seen plenty of UFW’s – Unidentified Flying Warblers. In fact, this past week this fine fellow flew through my backyard.

Turns out he is a Black-throated Green Warbler (id courtesy of the “Picture Bird” app) who proved to be a bit tricky to get a picture of because he flitted about up in the Oak leaves, where he blended right in. I had to wait for those moments when he came out into the clearing for a second…

…or flew down to investigate the fountain.

Wish I had been able to get a sharper shot, but like they say, you get what you get and you don’t pitch a fit!

I wonder who will drop in for a visit next!

  1. I’m pretty sure if I saw something faintly yellow bee-bopping around in the shrubs I’d assume it was a female goldfinch. Or a male now that they’ve changed into their winter colors.
