I have the cutest little Kinglet that flits about the backyard, mostly showing up to sample the Bark Butter.
He doesn’t seem to mind me taking his picture, but he rarely obliges me with a shot of his beautiful crown.

Then, about a month ago, I got a text from a good friend, who happens to be my former pastor. The dude knows a lot about the Bible, but next to nothing about birds. And he sends me a picture in the text of a bird that he’s about ready to shoot because it’s attacking his car mirror.

Yep – he gets to see the Kinglet full -crowned! Here we are, each of us wanting to shoot this little fellow with totally different intent. Oh, the irony!
Brilliant! The irony indeed. What an incredible little bird. Not sure we get those in the UK?
I think it would be a rarity to see one in the UK. But hey, keep your eyes open, you never know!
Yes!
The KING of kings is the target of good and evil!
“And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written,
KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.”
Revelation 19:16
Maybe you need to get a mirror! π
Now there’s a thought!
I hope your friend is only kidding about shooting that little bird. Tell him a grocery bag tied to the mirror (removing it for driving of course) for a week or two should break the bird’s habit. Bluebirds often do the same thing.
He was just messin’ with me! It was at a store parking lot, so I don’t think he’ll have to worry about it being a recurring encounter!
So funny Kathy, and what a cool picture and story.
Now that’s rude! (as my grandboys say, lol) Irony indeed. I have yet to get the crown fully flared like that! I am indeed jealous!!!!!!
How funny! What a pretty little bird without its crest up and what a lovely bright crest. It seems the crest reveal was reserved for when it was angered or scared (of that scary βotherβ bird) so maybe it just shows how content it is when visiting your lovely garden. ππ
Yep…that crown typically comes out when he’s flirting or fighting!
