While hubby and I were hanging out at my folks house this past weekend, I mentioned to my Mom that I hadn’t seen any Monarchs yet this season. Well, one must have been eavesdropping because as soon as we pulled into the driveway I saw one flitting about the zinnias.

Most of the butterflies that show up in my yard tend to visit in July and August, along with the hummingbirds, but the Monarchs tend to wait til it’s almost autumn to make their appearance.

Their gorgeous stained-glass pattern alongside the colors of the flower petals makes for a lovely pairing.

Hopefully this beauty was the first of many!
Beautiful! I havenβt seen many Monarchs this year. The flowers are covered with Gulf Fririllaries now.
We’ve had mostly Fritillaries as well, and a handful of Swallowtails. π
We’ve been watching the Monarchs & many others here in Southern Alabama since March. They Love our Zinnias as well. We have a huge area of them right outside my office window & living room. Between the butterflies and our hummingbirds I’m surprised I get any work done during the day! π€£
I see my zinnias from the window by my desk as well, so I know your dilemma!

How magical that a Monarch appeared just as you mentioned it! Their colors really do look like stained glass.
Really lovely!
They are beauties, for sure!
