I was out on the back deck the other day, when a blur of yellow – otherwise known as a female Summer Tanager – swooped down to the birdbath.

She was clearly not the type to just sit at the edge of the pool and get her feet wet first…

…instead, she immediately began dipping and flapping and splishing and splashing – clearly determined to leave no feather left undrenched!

Every once in awhile she would relax for a moment or two…

…then get right back to going at it full force.

Two things are certain – she is downright beautiful…

…and this is gal has some gusto!
