My toes are froze and so’s my nose
I’m dressed in several layers of clothes
But what the heck
I’m on the deck
Embracing these winter weather woes
Enjoying this pastime that I chose!
It is below freezing here in North Georgia, which (oddly enough) just happens to be my favorite time to take pictures…especially when I want to play with a new toy that I got for Christmas – an ifootage Cobra 3 monopod.
I went out early and filled the feeders to overflowing, but the real lure in the winter weather is the fresh supply of water. Here are two handfuls of birds that showed up for a drink and were willing to pose while I practiced.
Eastern Phoebe

Downy Woodpecker

House Finch

White-throated Sparrow

Dark-eyed Junco

Pine Warbler

Carolina Chickadee

American Goldfinch

Mourning Dove

and an Eastern Towhee.

Spending the day out on the deck taking pictures of birds in the cold winter weather just seemed like a wonderful way to close out the posts for 2025! Here’s hoping that the year ahead holds many more beautiful birds for us to enjoy together!
