I took a field trip out to Smith-Gilbert Gardens the other day, where I had the joy of encountering a magnificent menagerie of Monarchs.

Now, before I go on, let me confess that I looked up the word “menagerie” to make sure I wasn’t just taking alliterative liberties with the title, but, since these butterflies were in an enclosed garden the word seemed entirely suitable!

I took a bunch of photos while I was there (no surprise!) but thought I’d share just ten of them, and aim to capture them from a few different angles.

I think Monarchs are one of the most beautiful butterflies in existence. Their wings are like a stained glass piece of artwork. Just being around them is quite nourishing for the soul!
