The male Cardinal is one striking bird. If you asked him to choose a song to be his personal anthem, he’d probably pick “I’m sexy and I know it!”
While this scarlet feathered fellow is indeed the flashiest, his female counterpart was by far the splashiest bird in my backyard today.
This lovely lady laid claim to the clay water dish and defied her “not one to make waves” disposition. She clearly enjoyed her exuberant bath.
Every once in awhile she would pause and pose for a few shots. Doesn’t she look pretty in the pictures below. I know they are similar, but I couldn’t decide which one I liked best so I’m posting them both.
Then she would go right back to her spraying and splashing.
When her bath was finally finished and her feathers were thoroughly soaked, she glanced over with a rather coy expression.
Pretty sure I heard her singing, “I’m sexy and I know it!“
Oh Kathy! How I LOVE this post! I can’t believe how sweet it is that they bath right there in front of you! What beautiful creatures, and how fortunate you are to have them in your backyard! GREAT shots!!
Birds and water is just one of those combinations I never get tired of.
They’re bringing sexy back, for sure…….hehe! She does look coy right there at the end! Thanks for sharing, Kathy!
Usually, she’s a quicker dipper, but yesterday she was in no hurry to end her bath.
What splish-splashing fun photos! 😄
Birds bathing never gets old.
Sweet birds!
Very nice birds!
She is truly gorgeous bathing so vigorously! And your shots are great.
Birds and water are a combination that’s hard to resist. 🙂
Love the little hairdo on these little guys and gals, and the look they give you! Thanks for sharing Kathy!
We’ve had a bit of a backyard bird flurry the past several days…does my heart good!
