The past two birds that I’ve posted about (the Scarlet Tanager and the Summer Tanager) have been royal red beauties, so I thought I’d stick with the theme and feature this male Cardinal that’s been showing up a lot lately.
This guy has pretty much become a backyard regular, showing up as soon as I put the seed out. That makes me happy ’cause it took a bit of coaxing to get him comfortable. I had to add some evergreen hideouts, a flat feeder that he prefers, and of course, some water. And as always, when I say “I”, translate that as my idea and hubby’s labor!
The other day he (the Cardinal, not hubby!) stopped in to refresh himself in the fountain and I was able to snap a few shots. He mostly just sat and soaked…

…but occasionally he would flap his wings to spread the water over himself.

He stayed for a good while before flying off for some sunflower seed.

He’s a head turner for sure! (the hubby and the Cardinal!)
I know we live in a world where brokenness abounds, but there sure is a lot of beauty to be found as well. And while I’m not naïve about the ugliness, I’m gonna keep looking for the loveliness!
What a visitor!! So bright and beautiful.
His bride is quite lovely too, though more subtle.
Just one of the reasons, but the most important one, I’m sticking with you & your loveliness blog, Kathy. And our gratitude to your liege man & strong arm for his labors in luring this gorgeous creature to your backyard & your camera sites.
“Loveliness Blog” – wouldn’t that be a great name for a site!
Indeed there’s beauty in creation all around us, and even if sometimes we have to wade through a quagmire of human-made sludge to see it it is absolutely worthwhile so that we can stand still and admire beauty such as this brilliantly scarlet Cardinal. Thanks, Kathy.
I totally agree!
Indeed, there is loveliness all around. The challenge is to focus on it rather than the ugliness! Love your post!💗
