A Ruby-crowned Kinglet showed up for a dip in the fountain the other day, and unlike the last time, when the little bather opted to keep his crown concealed, this time he rewarded me with several glimpses of his gorgeous head feathers.

After making sure the area was safe, he flew down into the upper part of the fountain and set about bathing with gusto!

He never did put his feathers on full display, but he did let us see where he got his name. Isn’t he a beauty!

I’m quite grateful he gave us a second chance glance!
