I know what the song says…Rainy days and Mondays always get me down…and today was both rainy and a Monday…but how about we add one letter and make it Downy instead?
This pair of Downy Woodpeckers stopped by this afternoon and paused just long enough for me to take a picture.
The female is all black and white…
…while the male has a handsome red head patch.
They helped to brighten a cold and drizzly day!
What cute birds! They are adorable.
They are curious, but a bit skittish. 🙂
Yes, they do! More amazingly close shots! Thanks, Kathy!
You are most welcome!
Beautiful! But it is 82 here in San Diego! Just saying! Thanks for sharing!
Well…I’ve always wanted to visit San Diego…I’ve heard the zoo there is amazing…
love these cuties! they are frequent at our home too! Freezing rain heading our way. The birds always seem to become very active and hungry when storms are coming.
They do get into a bit of a frenzy…kind of like the shoppers who run to stock up on bread, milk, and toilet paper. (Personally, I run for the wine and chocolate!)
well then – we too are completely birds of a feather – wine and chocolate for me too! 🙂 YIPPEE!
Have never seen this type of woodpecker. They are beautiful.
They are quite entertaining to watch!
Lovely Downy Monday! These guys brighten any day.
What a beautiful pair of birds, your shots are amazing!
A random thought: If a family of these woodpeckers were to nest inside a church, could it then be called Downyton Abbey? 🙂
Simply adorable!
