A Swarm of swooping swallows
Too fast to catch in flight
Feasted o’er the waters
A blur of teal and white
They perched upon the boxes
Neatly placed for them to nest
And flitted dampened feathers
As they grabbed a moments rest
Then returned to swiftly swooping
And maneuvering for a meal
With dips and dives and dances
A blur of white and teal

Beautiful photos!
Thank you!
One of my most favorite birds- your last capture is astounding!
This was my first time encountering them in person. It was a treat!
The colours on these swallows is beautiful. And … your poem is delightful. Thank you for sharing your talent.
I wish you could have seen them by the water – that’s when their colours really popped!
So beautiful! Great pics! We get them here but I’ve never managed to see one. I loved your poem too! You’re very talented with camera and pen π
This was my first time getting a picture of one. Their colors are so brilliant!
What a lovely poem to go with your amazing photos!! Love the teal color of their feathers! π
Their colors were so beautiful when they were over the river.
Lovely photos and words. Makes me realise how much I am looking forward to the swallows returning to Europe!
When the sun hits their backs as they glide over the river the color is simply indescribable.
Lovely clear pics Kathie as these birds are not always easy to capture
I think it’s safe to say I delighted a lot of blurry photos!
Fascinating – I have only ever seen swallows swooping by – never stationary like this!
They weren’t still for long!
What a stunning sequence, Kathy!!
Tucker looks like he will be a delightful companion.
