A Wandering Warbler

Yesterday evening, right as the sun was setting, a Warbler that I’ve never seen before dropped in for a bite of Bark Butter.

I snapped several shots of this little beauty and then, once it flew off, went inside to glance through the guide books. To be honest, I’m not 100% sure what kind of Warbler it is. I am torn between an Orange-crowned Warbler (has this coloring, but seems to be missing the eye mark) and a Yellow Warbler (which doesn’t seem to visit my area except during migration).

If you happen to be more skilled at Warbler id than I am, let me know the verdict. I’ll even add a front shot…

…and a rear view…

…to help with the details.

It is always such a treat to have a first time visitor in the backyard – especially when I have my camera in hand.

Who knows, maybe this lovely little wandering Warbler will stick around for awhile.

  1. I am no good at warblers at all..but how nice of him (or her) to give you a good view of all 4 sides! This is one beautiful bird, I hope it sticks around for awhile if it’s supposed to, and if it’s late in it’s migration I hope your bark butter gives it the strength to hurry up and get out of here!
