Beauty in the Bleakness

Much of our weather this past weekend was grey, cloudy, and rather bleak – not ideal picture taking conditions! But, the birds didn’t seem deterred from showing up, so I figured I wouldn’t be either.

Although the lighting was dull and made getting crisp shots a bit challenging, what wasn’t the least bit dull was the beauty of the birds. To be honest, I think their colors were all the more vibrant without having to compete with the sun.

This male Pine Warbler (always willing to pose for food provisions) is a good example. Isn’t he fantastic?

I think what is true in bird photography is likely true in everyday life – a bleak backdrop is just a chance for beauty to shine brighter!
