Grub Grabbers

I love to take pictures of birds when they are posing pretty on a perch…

Goldfinch and House Finch

…or when they are showing a bit of personality…

Eastern Bluebird

…but most of the time they fly straight to the food and I end up getting pictures as they grab some grub!
Here are a handful that stopped in for some fast food over the weekend.

Downy Woodpecker (female)
Northern Mockingbird
Yellow-rumped Warbler
White-breasted Nuthatch
Red-bellied Woodpecker
Carolina Chickadee
Eastern Bluebird
Downy Woodpecker (male)

Now, while photos taken while they’re stuffing their faces might not be their finest look, I’m happy as long as they keep showing up!

  1. What is this bark butter you use? Do you make it yourself or do you purchase it? The beautiful birds seem to really enjoy it. Thanks for sharing.

    1. Bark Butter is a nutty suet type spread that I buy from Wild Birds Unlimited. The birds really do love it…especially when I add peanuts to it.
