As I said in yesterday’s post, we are in the midst of quite a drought here in the south. Although the lack of rain has cast a bit of a gray cloud on the area, the increase in backyard bird activity is a definite silver lining!
Here are a dozen more birds that have stopped by to wet their feathers and quench their thirst. Let’s do six at at time, shall we?

Insert brief intermission…and now for the second half dozen…

I think the Chickadee might be my favorite picture, mostly because of the curled up leaf, but when I see the female Towhee, it makes me want a sweater in every one of her colors!
I am praying for a lovely rain to head our way soon (especially since we have so many wildfires flaring up) but in the meantime, I will enjoy the blessing of the extra birds.
Wow! Amazing colors and birds! I never tire of their beauty…thanks Kathy for sharing these photos! And your knowledge to be able to name them all!! 😊🐦🌟
My pleasure!
so many greats again! I especially love the chickadee too – the angle of the edge of the water and the leaf all add to the striking beauty of the whole photo! Nice job!
I didn’t plan in that way, but since that’s how it turned out I’ll take full credit.
🙂
The drought brings them out!
Yes!
Beautiful photos.
Thanks!
It’s hard to pick a favourite with so many terrific shots but I think I’d probably go with the female cardinal.
They have such a subtle beauty.
Your pictures are fantastic. Such beauties visit you every day!
It is a blessing that makes me smile. 😊
Superb captures, Kathy. Although the birds are always welcomed, I hope your area is receiving some of the rain we’re getting today in SC.
What a wonderful collection of beautiful birds! The Carolina Chickadee image is special…it’s like he’s giving a speech at a lake front in the fall 🙂
