Spring migration really is the best, so how about I share two more birds that stopped by in the month of May.
The first, a Chestnut-sided Warbler, only made the briefest of appearances. He popped in just long enough to pose, and then he was off.

The second, a young male Summer Tanager that is only just beginning to hint at his radiant red adult feathers, lingered a bit longer. He first perched on one of the backyard bird houses and scanned about for some unsuspecting insects…

…then, he flew down to investigate the fountain area.

He hopped in and out a few times…

…and then decided the water was just fine and helped himself to a nice leisurely bath.

Isn’t he a beauty!

After a bit, he flew off, and sadly, I haven’t seen him since.

Summer Tanagers do tend to spend the season here, so perhaps he’ll bless me with a return appearance before he heads back to his winter home. Here’s hoping!
Oh my goodness! These two are beautiful! I’ve never seen (or at least recognized) a young tanger, just beautiful. And I’ve never seen ANY warbler except the yellow one. I always love when people get images of them, they’re so hard to photograph, they never stand still!
I’ve neither seen nor heard of either of these birds. I love the coloring on both!
Me too!
