Rogue Rooster

We’ve had a rogue rooster roaming the hood lately!

I know he’s misplaced because our HOA would quickly cry “fowl play” if anyone tried to own chickens. Not only does he seem to have escaped from his home, he also seems to have lost track of time as he is crowing morning, noon, and night and all the hours in between!

If he sticks around much longer, I’m gonna have to give him a name. I’m currently leaning toward Cock-a-doodle Dundee- what do you think?

He’s a fine looking fellow, for sure, but his cocky strut conveys that he is well aware of it!

I took a few final pictures of him crossing the road – and tried to think of a “Why did the rooster cross the road joke?” to close with…

…but alas, my brain wasn’t coming up with anything clever, so I’ll just close by saying this guy was definitely poultry in motion!

P.S. – I can hear him crowing in the distance as I type this and it’s making me smile!

  1. ….ahem, he’s crossing the road and doing all that crowing with the same want/need/urge as those rather annoying Northern Flickers drilling on rooftop vents–Cock-a-doodle Dundee’s looking for a hen 😎

    1. We have several farms that back up to our subdivision, and animals tend to break free and escape to our neighborhood. Once I was standing in the driveway and two horses came trotting up the road!
If he doesn’t end up belonging to one of the farms, animal control is a good idea.

  2. Cock-a-doodle Dundee Is a great name!

On the street behind me, one owner houses chickens freely in her yard. I would hear the rosters cock-doodle-doo. But I haven’t heard him this summer. Perhaps the roster crossed the road to cock-a-doodle in your hoodle! 🐓🐓🐓

  3. Those hilarious puns really had me cracking up! With all that crowing, I was about to have a chicken pot pie… but don’t ruffle your feathers, I’m just yolkin’ around! 🐓
